Saidul Islam has been appointed as a syndicate (regent board) member of Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU), one of Bangladesh’s prominent public universities.
The government has nominated Saidul Islam as a member of RMSTU’s syndicate/regent board for a term of three years.
According to Sections 18(1)(t) and 18(4) of the Rangamati Science and Technology University Act, 2001, Saidul Islam has been nominated as a government-appointed representative from the industrial and business sector.
Saidul Islam holds an Honors degree in Public Administration from the University of Chittagong and a Master’s in Governance and Development Studies from Jahangirnagar University. He is currently pursuing PhD research.
Additionally, for the past seven years, he has been actively involved in the startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem alongside being an entrepreneur himself. He regularly writes columns on these topics in national and international media.
Beyond his professional and academic roles, he serves as the Chief Executive of the Center for Governance and Development (CGD) and the Youth Platform for Sustainable Development (YPSD). His work focuses on governance, development, youth empowerment, SDGs, and environmental issues. As part of this, he recently participated as a member of the government delegation at the United Nations Environment Conference 2024 in Azerbaijan, alongside the Chief Advisor.
It is worth mentioning that, according to university regulations, the Syndicate or Regent Board is the highest policymaking authority for university administration and management. As the chief executive body, it oversees all activities of the university, including financial matters, general administration, and the supervision of faculty, students, officers, and staff.
