Dhaka: Bollywood’s influential actor Saif Ali Khan was the victim of a serious terrorist attack on Wednesday night. He was stabbed at his residence in the attack.

He is currently undergoing treatment at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The actor has suffered six stab wounds, one of which is near his spine. However, doctors have confirmed that Saif is out of danger. His family members are reported to be in good health.

In the wake of this incident, there has been a renewed debate about the increasing violence and persecution of the Muslim community in India, especially under the rule of the BJP, which is associated with far-right Hindutva ideology. Concerns are growing particularly over attacks and defamation campaigns targeting Muslim celebrities in Bollywood.

Shah Rukh Khan has also shared his experience regarding this issue. Since the arrest of his son, Aryan Khan, in a harassment case in 2021, his family has faced several smear campaigns. In an interview, Shah Rukh stated, “The last few years have been extremely tough for my family.”

The recent violent situation in India is raising concerns in the international community. The U.S. Department of State’s religious freedom report has highlighted the rise in attacks on religious minorities, particularly Muslims and Christians.

There has been a growing number of attacks on Muslims in various states under allegations of cow slaughter. Additionally, during the recent violence in Manipur, more than a hundred churches were destroyed, and many lives were lost.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also commented, saying, “Attacks on religious minorities are increasing in India, and this poses a danger to religious freedom.”

The escalating violence and religious intolerance in India have led to growing international concern about the safety and rights of religious minorities.
