Dhaka: A seminar titled “The Role of Youth in Rebuilding Bangladesh’s Modern Political System” was held in Chattogram. The event called for ensuring at least 30% nomination for youth in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The seminar, organized by the Center for Governance and Development (CGD), took place on Saturday, January 18, at the Sultan Ahmed Hall of Chattogram Press Club. It was chaired by CGD Executive Director Saidul Islam.
Dr. Atiar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Rangamati Science and Technology University, attended as the chief guest. Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at Chattogram University and Chairman of CGD, A.G.M. Niaz Uddin, delivered the keynote speech. Professor Dr. Amir Mohammad Nasrullah from the Department of Public Administration at Chattogram University participated as the main panelist.
The speakers emphasized that active youth participation is essential in shaping Bangladesh’s modern political culture. They called for ensuring at least 30% youth nominations in the upcoming elections and urged political parties to be compelled through the Election Commission. The importance of adequate youth representation in political decision-making was also highlighted by the speakers.
Leaders from Chattogram University’s student organizations such as Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Islami Chhatra Shibir, Gana Adhikar Parishad, and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement also participated in the seminar.
