Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has expressed anger over what she described as the complete destruction of Gaza’s education system by Israel. She also called on the Muslim world not to legitimize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
Speaking at an international conference on girls’ education in Islamic countries, organized by Pakistan on Sunday (January 12), Malala urged global action.
Malala, who was seriously injured in a Taliban attack in Pakistan in 2012 at the age of 15, has since become an outspoken advocate for girls’ education. Though she lives abroad, she has returned to Pakistan occasionally, and this conference marked another significant moment in her campaign.
During her address on the second day of the conference, Malala condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression, stating that over 90% of schools in Gaza have been destroyed. She expressed concern over attacks on school buildings used as shelters by civilians and criticized Israel for violating international laws and human rights. She pledged to continue her protest against these actions.
On the first day of the conference, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed the audience. The event was attended by more than 150 teachers, researchers, and ministers from various countries, as well as representatives from organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank.
